Co-Founder and CEO
Jordan Smith
Jordan is a quantum physicist and a repeat founder. He holds a Master’s degree in Physics, a Bachelor’s degree in Honours Physics, and a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Business and Entrepreneurship from the University of Calgary. Jordan's unique perspective and industry-relevant expertise have enabled him to lead QTi's mission of transforming the quantum ecosystem, and in using quantum technologies to benefit and improve the world.
Academic Co-Founder and Chief Scientist
Dr. Daniel Oblak
Daniel is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Calgary, and principal investigator of the Quantum Cloud Lab. He is an experimental physicist with a deep expertise in implementing quantum communication and quantum cryptography systems. Daniel holds a PhD in Quantum Optics from University of Copenhagen and a Master’s degree in Physics and Mathematics from Aarhus University.

Dr. Itzel Lucio Martínez
Itzel brings several years of industry experience to QTi, having worked in various sectors, including quantum technologies. She has world-class expertise in the design and construction of quantum cryptosystems, with results that include the distribution of encryption keys across the city of Calgary. Itzel holds Master's and PhD degrees in Quantum Physics from the University of Calgary. She has dedicated her life to developing quantum tech, and her passion for applying her skills to solve the world's challenges makes Itzel an integral part of the QTi team.
Chief Security Architect
Mike Brown
Mike was the Co-founder and CTO of ISARA, where he focused on the technical vision and direction for the company. Prior to ISARA, Mike was VP of Security Product Management and Research at BlackBerry, where he co-founded the product security practice and was responsible for the vision and execution of security for all BlackBerry products. Mike holds a Masters of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, focusing on cryptography. Mike leverages his deep expertise in cybersecurity to oversee classical cryptographic elements of QTi's technology.
Scientific Advisor
Dr. Barry Sanders
Barry is Scientific Director of Calgary’s “Quantum City” and Director of the Institute for Quantum Science and Technology at the University of Calgary. His research includes theory of quantum sensing, quantum communication, quantum computing and quantum optics. He is a Scientist Mentor with the Creative Destruction Lab at both the Universities of Toronto and Calgary. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, of the United Kingdom Institute of Physics, of the American Physical Society, and of Optica—formerly the American Optical Society. Dr. Sanders’ world-class expertise in quantum science and his extensive involvement in the quantum ecosystem gives him a unique perspective on carrying out QTi’s mission.
Technical Advisor
Dr. Zvonimir Bandic
Zvonimir has deep technical knowledge about compute systems architecture, including chip interface protocols and OS/device drivers; file systems and storage networking protocols, NVMe, NVMe over fabric and other RDMA enabled protocols; and SoC architecture for storage and memory systems. He has a bottom-to-top understanding of key issues in storage architecture. Zvonimir has a BSc in Electrical Engineering, and MSc and PhD degrees in Applied Physics. Zvonimir has a strong record of innovation, patenting, and industrial applications in semiconductor and storage technologies, and is well-positioned to guide QTi as it navigates the world of integrating quantum architectures with classical compute systems.
Strategic Advisor
Dr. Adam Pidlisecky
Adam is an Associate Professor at the University of Calgary and Scientist at Creative Destruction Lab. He was a Co-Founder and the Chief Research Officer at Seequent, and is currently a Strategic Advisor. With a background as an entrepreneur with a successful exit, in addition to being a prominent academic, Adam is a valuable founding member of Academic Entrepreneurs in Residence. Adam has keen insight into the tech sector as well as into academia and scientific research, and is well-positioned to help guide QTi in scaling up with massive growth.
Strategic Advisor
Yogi Schulz
Yogi has over 40 years of Information Technology experience. He manages projects that arise from changes in business requirements, from the need to leverage technology opportunities and from mergers. His specialties include IT strategy, web strategy, and systems project management. Yogi’s substantial experience enables him to provide QTi with relevant direction in integrating quantum tech into existing IT and network stacks to solve customer pain-points.
